The NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence (ENSEC COE) invites submissions for the 2026 Energy Highlights Article Competition. Share your insights on energy security, the energy transition, and national security by 31 October 2026 for a chance to win cash prizes and have your work published in Energy Highlights.
This year’s competition introduces dedicated age-based categories to encourage younger voices in the energy security debate, attract emerging talent, and foster fresh perspectives on today’s most pressing energy security challenges.
By combining an open analytical category with two age-based tracks, ENSEC COE aims to engage a diverse community of contributors—from established experts to the next generation of thinkers—exploring the rapidly evolving dynamics of energy security. Your ideas can help shape how NATO Allies strengthen energy resilience in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
Submissions are invited in the following three categories:
Best Overall. Open to participants of all ages. Advanced analytical submissions are encouraged. Contributors may address any major defence and energy security topic.
Ages 14–20. Participants are invited to respond to the theme: “Securing Tomorrow’s Power: How I Can Shape the Future of Energy Security”
Ages 21–29. Participants are invited to respond to the theme: “Energy Security and NATO: From National Responsibility to Collective Challenge”
