On 14 April, a delegation of experts from the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence (ENSEC COE), led by its Director Colonel Gytis Kazokas, visited the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU).
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen institutional cooperation and discuss the applicability of ongoing scientific research in Kaunas to defence and energy security requirements. The discussions focused on identifying potential joint research directions and technological solutions that could contribute to NATO‘s energy resilience.
During the visit, LEI and KTU presented key projects in areas such as advanced combustion and plasma technologies, hydrogen energy, nuclear safety, and energy systems stability. The institutions showcased innovations in multi-fuel burner development, friction reduction in marine transport, UAV aerodynamics, real-time network monitoring, and cybersecurity testing for the energy sector.
The visit concluded with an agreement to continue the dialogue on future cooperation and joint research initiatives aimed at enhancing energy resilience across NATO and its partner nations.
