On January 27-29, the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence hosted a specialized development workshop in collaboration with experts from the French War College (École de Guerre) and Joint Centre for Concepts, Doctrine and Experimentation (CICDE). The four-day session was dedicated to the continued design and refinement of ‘Energy Dominance,’ a gaming project tailored for military leaders and civil servants.
The primary objective of the workshop was to fine-tune the game’s underlying mechanics, ensuring they accurately reflect the complexities of modern logistics and the necessity of maintaining operational continuity under pressure. By leveraging the expertise of the visiting specialists, the team worked to create a robust educational tool that balances playability with realistic strategic constraints.
The sessions focused on constructing scenarios where players are required to navigate challenges related to energy dependence and resource allocation. This development process is particularly significant for the Baltic region. By integrating specific regional characteristics into the game’s logic, the final simulation will offer a platform for relevant personnel to better understand supply chain vulnerabilities in a controlled environment.
This initiative represents a productive step toward gamifying energy security education, providing a modern and interactive method for enhancing strategic awareness among allied nations.
